Mount Carmel is a town filled with Western charm and breathtaking color on the eastern edge of Zion National Park. Here, you will enjoy great outdoor activities including ATV tours, horseback riding, marked and unmarked hiking trails and canyons galore. For all of the wonderful outdoor activities you can try during your stay in Mount Carmel, one of the most popular tourist attractions is the Maynard Dixon Gallery, also known as the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts. Maynard Dixon, a famous artist accredited with finding a new form of expression in the West, moved to Mount Carmel in 1938 where he built his home and studio. Tours of these locations are now available from May to October. Travelers heading to Mount Carmel should also add the Coral Pink Sand Dunes to their list of “can’t miss” attractions in the area. This state park area covers 3,730 acres of undulating, uninterrupted salmon pink dunes that are surrounded by high red cliffs, clear blue skies and breathtaking views.
