Abbey Inn Cedar City: Your Home-Base for Utah Adventures

Utah’s Color Country is a majestic destination for year-round vacations. Breathtaking natural surroundings, an assortment of exciting outdoor activities, and a place where you can truly getaway from the stifling crowds and concrete jungles of the cities. Among the refreshing scenery awaits the Abbey Inn Cedar City, your answer to an unforgettable Utah experience.

Start every morning of your stay off right with the inn’s full hot breakfast. Indulge in eggs, sausage, hot waffles, biscuits and gravy, and a variety of juices and coffee to energize yourself for a day of fun. You can choose to spend the morning relaxing in your comfortable room, equipped with 42” television, or head down to the indoor pool for a nice swim. An outdoor sundeck is also available for lounging and basking in the stunning views.

Of course, don’t simply spend your time admiring when there are so many ways to discover the area first-hand. Four national parks are easily accessible from the inn, making it the ideal home-base for your Utah adventures. Zion National Park offers up a wealth of hiking trails and plenty of the large, red and pink sandstone cliffs that give Color Country its name. Venture a little further to Bryce Canyon, where you will find the famous pillar-shaped rocks called hoodoos that you’ve only seen in photographs. Wander along the rugged paths on foot or on horseback, climb to the tops of the cliffs and catch a magnificent sunset.

The Capitol Reef National Park is another nearby destination where you can discover the natural Waterpocket Fold, a geologic monocline, or a wrinkle on the Earth. Extending almost 100 miles, it’s one of Utah’s hidden treasures. If that’s still not enough for your adventure-seeking self, head out to the Grand Canyon National Park to visit one of the country’s most incredible sights. The 277-mile canyon is a fantastic place for camping and exploring. The Colorado River runs through the canyon and offers plenty of opportunities for rafting trips. A little closer to home is the Cedar Breaks National Monument, a natural amphitheater that stretches across three miles with a depth of over 10,000 feet. Head to the top and bask in stunning views of pine trees and lush wildflower meadows!

If you’re planning a trip during the winter, not to worry. You can still explore the parks at your leisure which transform into snow-capped outdoor playgrounds for you to enjoy. Snowshoeing is a fabulous way to discover the natural wonders, of you can plan a more typical winter retreat with a visit to Brian Head Ski Resort. The luxury ski resort features over 650 acres of skiable terrain and the highest base elevation in all of Utah at 9,600 feet. Downhill skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are all available here to make your winter vacation something special.

And that’s all just the beginning! Only a few blocks away from the inn you will find all the fun local attractions that make Cedar City an exciting place to visit. The Utah Shakespeare Festival is hosted here as well, welcoming you to experience some of the most classic tales through an interactive experience. Their 2016 Season includes favorites such as Much Ado about Nothing and Julius Caesar!

No matter how you choose to spend your time here in Cedar City, amongst the colorful cliffs and hills of Utah’s majestic scenery, you’re sure to experience a vacation unlike any you’ve ever had before. "When our guests are departing, we often hear how they feel like they are leaving home,” said Emily Britt, Assistant General Manager. So plan your next Utah vacation at the Abbey Inn and become a part of their family!
