ResortsandLodges.com got the opportunity to interview Jennifer Goheen, representative for RPM Havelock, to talk about his uniuqe car event.

RAL: Tell me a little bit about the event.

JG: Our RPM Havelock Show is in its 3rd year. The show takes place on the Havelock Country Jamboree Grounds and is presented by Havelock Country Jamboree, which has been running for 27 years. For this year’s event, we are expecting between seven and eight thousand people per day. As far as the demographics of our crowd, we see car and engine enthusiasts of all ages.

RAL: What makes this event unique?

JG: Our event is unique because it's one of the most complete car events in all of Ontario. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the beautiful summer in Havelock. Plus, you get the chance to meet plenty of new people with similar interests. From boxing to tractor pulls, we have something for everyone.

RAL: Take me through a day at the event?

JG: We call it “The Show That Has It All” because our event has so much going on. On Friday we have Full Throttle boxing matches, a Miss RPM Contest and live music. Saturday brings the truck and tractor pulls, and there will be a Big Rig Truck Show with more live music performed by The Cameo Blues Band and Kirk Bates. To cap it all off we have our great car show on Sunday. Did we mention that there are vendors selling everything auto related from new and used parts to accessories? Action Car and Truck World are main sponsors and will be on hand with a variety of goods for purchase. We also have things for kids to do as well as a flea market with all kinds of unique items.

RAL: What will people find for food?

JG: We have a big selection of food and refreshment vendors this year. No matter what your looking for, we have it! You can get anything including ribs, pulled pork, and pizza. On top of that, The Pita Pit is here serving up delicious meals.

RAL: What is the overall environment like?

JG: We are a family festival campground and the event is geared to automotive enthusiasts of all ages. Everyone is here to have a good time and to “shop ‘til they drop”. The setting is scenic and the environment is what you make of it. You can relax and look at unique automobiles or dance to some great live music; it's all here.

RAL: What does the event mean to the community?

JG: Absolutely, the local businesses from groceries to gas stations all benefit from the increased number of visitors to the area. Havelock has a population of roughly 4,500 residents and that number can nearly double during our event.

RAL: Does the event support a special cause in the community?

JG: Yes, we take great pride in helping various local charities and service groups. A few examples of groups we work with include: Community Care, MS, the Legion and the Lions, Girl Guides, Food Bank and so many more.
