Infuse Creativity, Fun, and Innovation into Your Next Missouri Family Getaway

Located in the geographic heart of America, Kansas City is a unique destination featuring almost as many water fountains as Rome (212 and growing), more boulevards than Paris (135 miles worth), and at least 100 barbecue joints. Much more than a confluence of fountains, the city offers an excellent selection of parks, museums, attractions, and more. Those in search of fun and family-friendly attractions will love visiting the Kansas City Zoo, SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium, and Science City. Known as the “Barbecue Capital of World,” the city is sure to deliver mouthwatering smoked meats. Travelers can get a taste for themselves at favorite establishments such as BB's Lawnside Barbecue, Arthur Bryant's, and Gates Bar-B-Q.

Maker Faire Kansas City is Missouri’s premier celebration of creativity, invention, and the maker movement, and it will take place June 23-24 at Union Station Kansas City. Attendees will encounter a family-friendly gathering of creative and fascinating people showcasing their hobbies, experiments, and projects. The event features a variety of demos, workshops, talks, and live performances all centered around specific projects and interests. Some of the demos include a Liquid Nitrogen Demo (showcasing the power of liquid nitrogen), ArtBot Petting Zoo (where patrons can make drawings alongside specialized drawing robots), and 3D Printer Demos (demonstrating what 3D printers can build). The workshops are great for all ages and include fun activities like making bouncy balls from household items, constructing crafts out of old plastics, red chocolate modeling, building flying machines, and more. Those looking to listen and learn can partake in the Biomimicry Chat, which will highlight how humans can use nature to solve problems. The Faire also has a selection of interactive, informative, fun live performances including the Science in the Movies Stage Show, Magic Tree House: Space Mission, Power Racing Series, and more. ResortsandLodges.com interviewed Assistant Marketing Manager for Union Station Kansas City, Margaret Hoang, to learn about this exciting and educational family experience.
