Coming in at No. 1 is the Vee Bar Guest Ranch near Laramie, just 2 ½ hours north of Denver, Colorado.

Vee Bar Guest Ranch has a colorful and interesting history. This 100 year-old landmark has served as a stagecoach shop, a boys’ school, a buffalo ranch and a cattle ranch. Today it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a year-round guest ranch that has been carefully restored in order to preserve its western heritage. In the cabins and lodge you’ll find antique furnishings from the Vee Bar’s rich past as well as creative décor. The suites, cabins, and lodge rooms offer modern conveniences and all of the comforts of home. Since you’re vacationing with family, you’ll probably want to opt for a Riverside Suite or a multi-bedroom cabin. These accommodations have small refrigerators, coffeemakers, and private bathrooms. Made from scratch buffet meals are served three times a day in the John Wayne Saloon and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings guests can participate in the All-American picnic and campout. Family oriented activities include hayrides, trapshooting, river tubing, and much more. The highlight to your trip to Vee Bar has to be experiencing the horseback riding program. The ranch wranglers will work with you to make sure you are comfortable on your horse, and every rider will have the chance to progress as he or she becomes more comfortable on their mount. Cattle work is a highlight each week when guests help the wranglers move cattle from one pasture to another, sort, and doctor cattle.
