As the sister property to the Pink Palace, our No. 4 selection, the Beach House by Don CeSar has definitely got some pretty attractive attributes running in the family. And you’ll be shaking your head in hearty agreement when you see this 70-room luxury resort gracing the powdery St. Pete Beach shore.

If you’re looking to vacation for longer than your average sunscreen-slathered snowbird, then the Beach House is for you. Designed for extended stays, this all-suite Florida haven features separate living rooms, full kitchens and washers and dryers in each one-bedroom suite. And the best part? The heavenly Gulf of Mexico panorama from the private balconies. While you might think the Beach House is more of the do-it-yourself condo vacation home-type, you’d be wrong. It offers hotel-style perks, like the Market located in the lobby, stocked with microwavable items, breakfast food, snacks and any drink. Need more than that? Just ask the front desk and they’ll set you up with a grocery delivery. And when you want to stretch your legs, you can always head to any of the Don CeSar Beach Resort facilities – free to use while staying at the Beach House!

With a name like Dolphin Beach House, you might expect to be greeted by an outstretched flipper. No, you don’t have to be a marine mammal maniac to find yourself content at this St. Pete Beach waterfront hotel. In fact, all you need to love is pure relaxation – and lots of sunshine, of course!

Lucky for you, this Florida hotspot is not only keen on quality accommodations, but also on offering them to you for a reasonable price. That made us extremely happy; especially since there are plenty other places in the area worth spending some cash at, like the neighboring Dolphin Village Shopping Center, the Florida Aquarium and The Pier. Touting oversized guestrooms much bigger than those of traditional hotels, you’re certain to have a more-than-comfortable stay at Dolphin Beach House. But we don’t think you’ll be spending too much time in your room, considering the miles of Silver Sand Beach literally steps away. Why nap indoors when you can nap on a bed of warm, soft sand and get a tan!

Owners of the New York Times-praised Sea Critters Café, Blind Pass Resort comes in as the No. 9 pick on our list of Top 10 St. Pete Beach Resorts. Certainly not the largest resort on our list, this miniature West Coast refuge is just where you need to go if you desire sun, surf and sandy turf!

It’s easy to put your appetite on the backburner when you’re battling the waves on your surfboard - in fact, usually the only thing that’ll be cooking is your skin under the Florida rays! But tummies will not go unfilled at Blind Pass Resort. Unlike usual resort restaurants, Sea Critters Café isn’t on site, but it is just a few minutes down the road. After you settle into your poolside room and dip your feet for awhile, head over to the award-winning café. Platters piled high with Florida’s freshest seafood, sizzling crab cakes and Sea Critters Café’s famous seafood boil is what you have to look forward to digging into. By this point on the list, you can probably assume that our final selection is next to the Gulf of Mexico, has a sprawling beach just out the doors and offers luxe accommodations. Well, if you did, you’re right. But gee whiz, it doesn’t have to sound so ho-hum! And you sure as heck won’t think it is once you get there!

So we’ve established that you’ll find everything warm, sandy and wet at The Alden Beach Resort and Suites, but isn’t that why you’re vacationing in St. Pete Beach? Sitting on five verdant acres, this sun-drenched Florida sanctuary was built with one idea in mind: to make you feel utterly at ease. Like our No. 3 resort, Vistas on the Gulf is the laidback alternative to all those busy St. Pete Beach resorts, crawling with tourists and their dribbling babies. While big-time resorts may deliver with concierges and 24-hour room service, nothing beats the homelike atmosphere of this Florida gem.

Sure, these 41 condo-style rooms are very similar to our Gulf Strand Resort pick, straight down to the color-splash couches and private balconies jutting toward the white-capped gulf waves. But who said too much of a good thing was bad? To us, the cozier the spot, the better it is! And you’ll agree that these one-bedroom, two-bathroom beach havens are definitely move-in ready – even if it’s only for a week. If you decide that you’ve had one too many piña coladas at the nearby beach bars, you can always spend a spell in the exercise center. But they do say swimming is a great workout if you can’t resist doing a cannonball into the heated pool overlooking the beach! Or, scurry down to the shore and try out the ocean!

We admit that Madeira Bay Resort isn’t quite in St. Pete Beach, but we couldn’t resist placing this new, Mediterranean-inspired retreat on our list. Overlooking the scenic Intracoastal Waterways, you don’t have to hop a yacht to get a postcard view of Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast.

Just steps from the marina sits this six-story condo resort – your Florida home-away-from-home. No, you don’t have to eat out every single day of your vacation if you don’t want to with your one- or two-bedroom suite’s fully-equipped kitchens, but we can’t say you won’t be tempted given that the famous John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk is within walking distance of the resort! For those of you who would rather get out in the water and play instead of cruising over the top in a luxury boat, miles of Madeira Bay’s umbrella-ready shoreline are steps from the resort. Rent a jet ski or test the waters – err, sky above the waters on a parasailing adventure. Prefer a bit of peace and quiet? The onsite Spa at Madeira Bay is just the solution!

Only minutes from where big, muscle-bound men will be tackling each other in the upcoming Super Bowl is a place where the rigorous sport of football is just something of a lazy dream. That doesn’t mean you can’t play sports at the Sirata Beach Resort, but we think there’ll be other things on your mind here.

Like barefoot walks along the soft and sandy stretch outside your suite, or a mid-afternoon nap in the gently-swaying hammocks spread around the grounds. Or even a dip in the waterfront pool. Certainly not plays and touchdowns and flags. In fact, the only foul encounter here is if you skip out on Flipper and his friends during the dolphin watch excursion! Parasailing, Wave Runners – you name the watersport and it’s available. Regardless if you’ve been splashing, cruising or slothfully sunbathing from dusk to dawn, we bet you’ll work up a mighty big appetite at the Sirata Beach Resort. Thank goodness for the home-style regional platters at the Compass Grille. Its local Florida seafood is sure to hit the spot!
