New York’s Hotel Gansevoort transformed Manhattan’s infamous Meatpacking District from ho-hum to trend-setting hub. Here, on bustling Miami Beach, the Gansevoort South – the hotel’s latest outpost – seems poised to do more of the same. And now you can get in on the action at this Miami luxury hotel!

We dare you to find even a hint of the ordinary in the dramatic modern designs of Gansevoort South’s hotel rooms and suites. Suede walls, splashes of magenta and luxurious feather beds redefine the standard hotel experience, while photos of 1930s pinups add a playful touch. A 50-ft.-long aquarium teeming with sharks separates the hotel lobby from an exclusive VIP lounge. Words don’t do justice to the Sony Cierge Suite, so we’ll leave it at this: Andy Warhol prints, Swarovski crystal chandeliers and master baths appointed with jade marble and mosaic glass tiles. And who could forget the expansive infinity-edge pool, exceeded in lavishness only by the 110-ft. rooftop pool that overlooks the stunning Miami skyline? We certainly won’t!

Set on one of Miami’s most famous beaches, this alluring Art Deco retreat blends the city’s rich architectural past with Asian influences for an unbeatable Miami luxury experience.

On one side, an Art Deco exterior hides teak walls and authentic jade pieces from China’s antique markets. And in the middle, East meets West with a blend of Oriental medicine, ancient healing rituals and traditional services at the Spa at The Setai. A private bath and steam room – plus ocean and pool views – are features of these private spa suites perfect for two. Forget lounge chairs – sink into luxurious day beds surrounding The Setai’s lush tropical gardens and sparkling pools. Low profile furniture, exotic hardwoods and rich chocolate linens are highlights of the spacious suites and common spaces at this Miami luxury hotel. No place on earth does Art Deco grandeur and romance like Miami’s South Beach. With all the opulence of a bygone era sequestered in one place, we started to wonder if maybe the old “too much of a good thing” standard applies. But that was before we happened upon the crown jewel of this Art Deco mecca: The Raleigh Hotel.

Steeped in 1940s tradition, this beachfront landmark sprang up during Miami’s formative years. A recent restoration by renowned hotelier, André Balazs, has brought the Raleigh Hotel into the 21st century. And the cascading waterfall, striped lounge chairs and fringed umbrellas of its highly-stylized pool make it one of the prettiest in all of South Beach. We adored the quirky blend of practical and playful displayed in the brightly-colored exteriors and saloon doors of the pool’s changing rooms. Period furnishings, polished terrazzo floors and Art Deco charm abound in this luxury retreat. Seek out the Raleigh’s Oasis Cabanas for a poolside massage or hop a shuttle to the Standard Spa at the hotel’s sister resort on Belle Isle. Inspired by ancient bathing rituals, this one-of-a-kind spa features unique hydrotherapy treatments like an eight-foot cascade of heated water. And the Raleigh’s outdoor terrace, with its flavorful seasonal menus, has become a favorite of Miami locals.

Getting there

The Miami International Airport is located just 20 minutes from the Raleigh Hotel. The Raleigh is happy to arrange ground transportation to and from airports.

Fun facts

The Raleigh Hotel was designed by L. Murray Dixon, one of the most acclaimed architects of South Beach’s historic Art Deco District.
