Trail Shop was originally built as a stagecoach shop in 1922 by Wiley Sherwin at the edge of the Wapiti Valley as the ideal pit-stop for travelers to unwind, indulge in a drink or meal, and enjoy the mountain surroundings. As the travelers continue to come and the demand grew, Sherwin added more buildings to accommodate guests.
