For nearly a century friends and families have been escaping to Lake Creek Lodge to reunite and gather amidst the towering ponderosa pines. With such a beautiful backdrop and 19 cabins it makes for an unforgettable vacation. Our resort is where kids get to be kids again—without the distractions of life at home. Bring your bikes and head into the woods for a day of wildlife watching; stop along the Metolius River for a nice picnic lunch and on the way back to your cabin visit The Camp Sherman Store for an ice cream bar. Take the kids down to the Wizard Falls Hatchery to feed the fish and take a tour of the grounds ~ hopefully you’ll catch a glimpse of the Otters sunning themselves on the dock. If you are up for an early morning start, get down to the Hatchery by 8am and you can watch the feeding of the resident eagles. Take a bike ride all the way to Suttle Lake through the Metolius Preserve, a 1,240 acre forest and wildlife preserve that supports a variety of wildlife, including a large herd of elk and many species of woodpeckers and migrating raptors and songbirds. Spend the afternoon up at our heated swimming pool – open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. As the kids play in the pool you can relax in one of the Hammocks, and maybe even sneak in that mid-afternoon nap! Grab your fly rod and meander up to our beautiful well-stocked trout pond and see if you can hook one of the huge rainbows waiting for just the right fly.

Early in the 1900’s Sherman County wheat farmers escaped the summer heat by migrating to the Metolius River to fish, hike and camp. The 80 acres of land, purchased by Martin and Lena Hansen in 1923 at the price of $10.00 per acre, was named Martin Hansen’s Metolius River Resort. Martin and his family began building the Lodge in 1924. The cabins rented for $1.75 a day, and you could board your horse for an additional 75 cents. Meals were served in the lodge for 60 cents on weekdays and 75 cents for Sundays. Martin Hansen’s Metolius River Resort was sold to Bertha Ronalds in 1935. She soon rebuilt the lodge and renamed the resort “Lake Creek Lodge”. Mrs. Ronalds hired Bud and Roblay McMullin to run the resort. She gifted the property in 1937 to the McMullins, who continued to run the resort and upgrade the cabins for the next 37 years. Bud McMullin passed away in 1955, but Roblay continued operating the resort until she sold the property in 1974. When she sold she retained a life estate in her cabin until she passed away in 1998 at the age of 91. Margaret Lumpkin, Velda Brust and Lisa Taubman, “the Ladies from OSU”, were the primary owners and operators of the resort from 1974 until they sold it in 2003 to the current owners, Jeff and Gordon Jones. Jeff and Gordon Jones are committed to seeing that Lake Creek Lodge continues its history of providing families with treasured memories that they can pass down to their children and grandchildren.
Our Cabins For decades families and friends have come to Lake Creek Lodge to relax, reconnect and escape. Each of our cabins is unique, and features a mix of authentic antiques and new furnishings, mixing modern amenities with the look of yesteryear for a perfect blend of comfort and ambiance. Pets are welcome in Cabins 1 – 10. Come relax and refresh, where the wind still drifts through the sun-drenched pines and the snow-capped peaks like Three Finger Jack or Mt. Jefferson keep watch from the northwest horizon.
Owning a new vacation cabin at Lake Creek Lodge isn't just an investment in the future, it's also an investment in the past – a chance to own a retreat in the woods where the pace of life is as it was nearly a century ago. The first cluster of cabins are under construction, and are available now for purchase, either in whole or shared ownership. This is a rare opportunity to secure ownership in a vacation cabin in one of the Northwest's finest small resorts. And while each cabin will be brand new from the ground up, the ambiance will make you feel as though you are stepping back in time. That's because each of these two and three bedroom cabins are designed with a deep appreciation for history, timeless style and impeccable craftsmanship. The photos of the completed cabin will give you a feel for the interiors of those cabins that are currently under construction. Like Cabin #28 the new cabins will feature natural wood and stone exteriors. Interiors will invoke the look of yesteryear, with knotty pine paneling, fir plank flooring, tile bathroom, and claw foot tubs. Modern amenities will converge with the past, as the cabins will also feature replica vintage kitchen appliances, and will include a washer and dryer. Stone gas log fireplaces, spacious decks and secure interior and exterior owner storage are also included with each cabin. The cabins will be fully furnished, including authentic antiques and artwork.
