While pets are not permitted to stay in the B&B, they are allowed in Xanadu's cottages. All the resort asks is that your pet remains on its best behavior and not bother other guests. The Hideaway at Xanadu Island was built in the 1920s as the summer home of J.C. Jones, a millionaire from St. Louis, Missouri. Jones enjoyed annual fishing trips to Otter Tail County and fell in love with the area. Located in the main lodge of Xanadu are five unique bed and breakfast rooms, each boasting a private, newly remodeled bathroom and either a Jacuzzi-jetted tub for two or a fireplace. To cap it all off, these rooms also feature a picturesque view of Elbow Lake. The three updated cottages on the premises originally derived from the original servants quarters.
