Nor'Wester Lodge & Canoe Outfitters has a rich history that dates back to 1931 when it was originally known as Balsam Grove. Carl and Alis Brandt came to the Gunflint Trail in 1931 to start a sawmill but realized that visitors to the area would need a place to stay. They built the cabins and named the resort Balsam Grove and the resort continued as such until 1966 when the Brandt's son and his wife took over the resort. They changed the name to Nor'Wester Lodge & Outfitters in 1968.

At Nor'Wester Lodge & Canoe Outfitters, you'll find these secluded lakeshore cabins both private and fully-equipped with all the kitchen utensils and appliances you need for a comfortable getaway. Each cabin has its own dock, deck, lawn furniture, and charcoal grill! Lakeside camping and RV sites are also available if you're looking to "rough it" a little.
