The resort was founded in 1971 and most recently purchased by Randy and Doreen Fosgard in 2012. Since that time, the accommodations and grounds have been totally renovated. Sleeping Bear Resort offers weekly stays (Saturday to Saturday) during the peak summer months. It is very popular for family reunions. Beginning in mid-August, shorter stays are available. The resort is open from the week leading up to Memorial Day until mid-March. Its central location near Lake Ann allows guests to easily explore Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, the coastal towns of Frankfort, Empire, Glen Arbor, Leland, Northport, Suttons Bay, and Traverse City.
