A Delightful Ranch with an "Out West" Feel
If you're looking for an adventure or a taste of the "West" how it use to be, travel to Ranch Rudolf located on the Boardman River in the heart of the Pere Marquette State Forest. This historic Michigan ranch can trace it's roots back to the early 1900's. Today, guests travel from all over to go horseback riding, fly fishing, canoeing, and tubing down the river. In true ranch fashion, meals are served in the Main Lodge. It's a great place to sit down with family and meet the other guests. Ranch Rudolf is one of Traverse City’s first known landmarks dating back to the early 1900's. It was named after Rudolf Paziener, who came to the US in 1916. He started off as an executive chef in Chicago until a realty company offered him a job running a small ranch resort in northern Michigan. The resort had three homes on the property, two guest houses and the third one is where Rudolf lived. Today, that same house still stands and is called the Bunkhouse. In 1930, an artist from Chicago who often visited the resort named it “Ranch Rudolf”. Rudolf became a local legend and today his love for the horses and the area still shines bright. - All Year
