A wonderland for all outdoor enthusiasts awaits beyond the Appalachian Trail in the Western Mountains of Maine. Gateway to mountain giants and some of the most beautiful scenery in the state, the Upper Kennebec Valley is also home of Gateway Recreation and Lodging cabins. The Upper Kennebec Valley sports two of Maine's three premier whitewater rafting rivers: the Kennebec and the Dead River, accompanied by wildlife, countless miles of snowmobile trails, and fishing opportunities for everyone!

Autumn in the Upper Kennebec Valley is a time of beauty with colors seeming to explode from the mountains. Many one day scenic drives can be taken; starting right from your cabin in Bingham. Take a 30 minute drive to Moxie Falls in Moxie Gore with a one mile hike once you reach the parking area. One of the highest waterfalls in Maine, the falls have a main vertical drop of about 100 feet.
The fishing opportunities range from any number of small ponds in the area which are home to native Maine brook trout to the Kennebec River which is home to a self sustaining population of rainbow trout.
