An Historic Old Florida Fish Camp on the St. Johns River

Experience the simple life of the beautiful, tranquil St. Johns River at historic Stegbone's Fish Camp, located 12 miles south of Palatka in NE Florida. People visit for many reasons, but fishing and ‘getting away’ usually tie for number one. The St. Johns River is nicknamed "The Bass Capitol of the World", but don't expect to just catch largemouths. You'll also see a full range of bream: copperhead, shell cracker, red bellies, crappie, and bluegill. When you're not out in the boat, you'll want to take advantage of Stegbone's excellent fish cleaning facilities, rocking chairs, horseshoes, tire swing, corn hole and maybe an occasional beverage. Get your fishing license on-line and have your bait delivered. The camp is also perfect for a unique family reunion and groups of up to 30…book the whole camp! Stegbone's Old Florida river paradise is the perfect mixture of adventure, pleasure, history, and relaxation!

On your way or around the camp, odds are you will see local wildlife: eagle, manatee, alligator, turtle, red fox, wild turkey, great blue heron, pelican, egret, owl, and osprey. Stegbone's clean and comfy cabins with screened-in porches are the perfect spot to come home to.
null For a family reunion or group outing you can book the entire fish camp! Up to 30 people can reside in the camp. And the camp will be all to yourselves! Take group fishing trips or visit nearby sites. Canoe or kayak the waterways in search of an alligator. If the gang needs a day on the beach, head east and you'll find the beautiful sand of Flagler or St. Johns County.

Stegbone's is located on the central section of the north-flowing St. Johns River, ‘the river of lakes’, with tributaries, swamps and springs all around. Locals swim in the crystalline spring water. Black bear, alligators, deer, and wild boar roam the wilderness, so keep your eyes peeled!
null null null null null null They don't call the St. Johns River "The Bass Capitol of the World" for nothing. Whether you're visiting for a tournament or on a casual retreat, Stegbone's offers some of the best fishing in the State…and some of the best fishing facilities anywhere! Easy in-and-out slips, a second-to-none fish cleaning station with power scaler, stove, refrigerator, kitchen counters and dining facilities right on the dock. Clean em and eat em!! Enjoy starry nights, campfires, sunsets, and clean and comfortable cabins with your family or friends at Stegbone's Fish Camp!
null Stegbone’s has a human history dating back over 2,000 years. Remnants of the Timucuan Indians' pottery can still be found on the shoreline. In European terms, this unique location dates to the 1700’s with rice and sugar cane plantations, and to 1874 when the town of Nashua was established just up the hill on Sisco Dirt Road by New Hampshire immigrants. The fish camp itself was started in 1946 by Bob Allender using the old citrus dock as its core element and the bass-infested, eel grass-covered sandbar just out from the dock as its main drawing card.

Enjoy the full kitchen, super-clean linens and restrooms, cable TV, wifi, spacious living and bedrooms, private porches, and air conditioning or winter gas heating. The cabins are always just a few steps away from the dock, the river and other amenities! Cabin kitchens are truly full-service. You’ll find everything from coffee makers and filters to outside BBQ grills for your added enjoyment. Full linen service is provided.
