Homesteaded in 1896, Antlers Lodge is a picturesque mountain retreat nestled between the banks of the Rio Grande River and the Silver Thread Scenic Byway. Originally named Antlers Park for the large number of elk antlers found along the river in the meadows; Antlers Park was the site of one of the earliest cabins of Nicholas Creede, who later discovered silver near Willow Creek. His find touched off the rush that built the nearby town of Creede. The Antlers Rio Lodge has been continuously operated as an inn or guest ranch for nearly one hundred years. Today, Creede is a lovely restored mining town and an attraction in its own right.
