Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is "The real mountaineer's Hotel and Pub, at the foot of the Langdale Pikes". The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is recognised as the Classic centre for climbing and walking in the Lake District. From the Hotel there are both low level walks and serious high level walks to Scafell, England's highest mountain. There are excellent walks also into the Borrowdale, Wasdale and Eskdale.
