Originally called the Hotel Cavell, the hotel was later renamed Astoria in reference to the river that flows out of the Tonquin Valley and into the Athabasca. The hotel was owned by Paul Andrew, but was later purchased by his brother, George, in 1944. George continued to run the hotel and established the Astoria as a popular Jasper destination. Today, the Astoria Hotel is still owned and operated by the Andrew family!
